Time a-flyin'

Wow, it's hard to believe that my last blog was after Mother's Day and here it is a month later...as you can believe a lot has happened and I must make it a point to keep this blog up to speed daily.

This past Sunday we celebrated the 1st birthday of our triplets...they were really confused when they woke up from their naps to find all of us there and in the party mood...the fun part of the day was when they had their own individual birthday cakes to eat...this is the first time they had anything like it and of course everyone likes sugar. They dug into the cakes like they've been doing it forever, got the icing and most of the cake all over themselves and then didn't want to give it up even when they couldn't find any more to eat...we had to undress them on the patio just so we wouldn't get the cake all over the place...and the pictures turned out well.

Just found out from my daughter, Juli, that our granddaughter, Katie, is going to receive a Character Counts award (she is one of two students from each of the grade school classes to receive the award) which exemplifies the traits of Responsibility, Respect, Citizenship, Caring, Fairness and Trustworthiness. Wow!!! What an honor for Katie (and of course we're as proud as we can be).

So, here are some of the events coming up with a story behind all of them ( No stories tonight, just a listing of events ).

Marlen is retiring on June 24th...she's taking a day off that day because we'll be flying to New Orleans where we'll spend two days touring Bourbon Street, etc. and then go for a 7 day cruise through the Caribbean.

Between now and then (she got the Golden Oak service award from the McKinley PTA today) we have her retirement party to go to on Friday night (they'll have a disc jockey and dancing), a 65th Wedding Anniversary party on Saturday night for Wanda and Raymond Hale, and John and Laura's wedding on the 18th.

All of this is going to be excellent material for future blogs and I'm looking forward to it.

Just to add a little excitement for filler material I am the coordinator for the Rhine River Holiday cruise on the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Frankfurt, Germany. We've already signed up for the tour and we have about 12 other people going with us...the name of our group is the Monday Night Loud Crowd and we're planning on leaving on December 30th, be in Amsterdam for the New Years fireworks on the 31st and then cruise on down the Rhine after that...we just got the itinery and it really looks fabulous (more material for really great blogs).

Tomorrow I'm going to do a little golfing so I can look sharp for my golf game on Friday with my son, Mike...he's going to show me how far he can hit his new driver and I don't want to be totally embarrassed.

So, I promise to be more faithful to this blog and write more often...it certainly is good therapy and I hope to be more entertaining in the future.

Good vibes to all.
